Time to check your freezer as there's a product recall of ice cream sold in Illinois due to it containing potentially deadly listeria.

This bulletin from the Food and Drug Administration refers to 6 different variations of soft serve ice cream that has been confirmed to be distributed in Illinois stores. They possibly contain listeria which is deadly for young children, the elderly or others with weakened immune systems. Here's what the products look like as provided by the FDA.

  • Soft Serve on the go Razzle, 8 fl oz UPC 0-91404-15133-7
  • Soft Serve on the go Caramel, 8 fl oz UPC 0-91404-15131-3

Note that this recall affects ALL products of soft serve ice cream from this brand produced up until 8/4/23.

As of this writing, there have already been at least 2 hospitalizations, but no deaths as of yet. Based on the FDA statement, the hospitalizations happened in New York State and Pennsylvania. None in Illinois so far. Make sure to follow the FDA bulletin site for updates on this potentially dangerous contaminated food issue.
