Dog Treats Dangerous to Humans & Pets Recalled in Missouri
Here's something you don't see everyday. There's a new urgent recall from the Food and Drug Administration due to a contamination that's dangerous to both humans and pets and it affects dog treats widely available in Missouri.
The US Food and Drug Administration just issued a bulletin for these dog treats available in Missouri
The statement from the feds says that Consumers Supply Distributing, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa is recalling these 4 pound bags of dog treats due to the possibility that they've been contaminated with Salmonella. The bags have an expiration date of September 6, 2026 with a lot code of 40906513. These dog treats were sold in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Montana and Nebraska. This is a problem for dogs and humans as Salmonella can cause the same type of symptoms in dogs that it does for humans which includes bloody diarrhea and a loss of appetite. Dehydration becomes a danger, too. These dog treats possibly contaminated with Salmonella can also be a problem for humans who handle them. It's double trouble which is what has led to this urgent recall.
The good news is there are no illnesses reported in animals or humans as of the date of this writing. This recall is precautionary and the hope is this will not become a serious health issue in Missouri for dogs or their owners.
