Why is infant botulism dangerous?

The toxins can block nerve signals in the very young and can lead to paralysis. Since breathing muscles can be affected, it can cause respiratory failure. Health experts warn that if your baby has a weak cry and/or trouble breathing and difficulty controlling their head, they could be affected by this condition. It's vital to seek medical help as soon as possible if you believe your child is affected. Be sure to check the updated FDA warning for more details and information on this concerning development.
