One thing I noticed is there are some legendary ice cream places in Missouri that seem to have closed their doors forever. Swirly’s Ice Cream & Waffles in Springfield, Missouri seems to be one of them according to what I've seen on Yelp. That's one of the reasons I wanted to put together a list like this to encourage you to support the mom and pop Missouri ice cream places so more don't face the same fate as Swirly's. Nothing against the bigger chains, but there's something special about places like Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard that are so uniquely Missouri. They are sadly now the exception instead of being the rule.
