It Suddenly Looks Like Illinois Could Get a Snowy Surprise Friday
I've been watching a developing winter storm system because it looks like parts of Missouri could be impacted at the end of the week. Now, the computer models show that most if not all of Illinois could also get a snowy surprise this Friday.
I follow Meteorologist Travis Roberts on YouTube for many reasons. First, he's a real meteorologist and not just a weather personality. Second, he used to be a chief meteorologist for a TV station. Third, he does not exaggerate what models are showing just to get attention.
All that being said, here's what Travis just shared about the incoming winter weather system on Friday. It's now shifted north a bit and Illinois appears in the path.
The darker blue bands are heavier snow and it's not just southern Illinois that seems to be a likely target.
By late in the afternoon on Friday, nearly all of Illinois looks like it could receive some measure of snowfall. Note that there does NOT appear to be major accumulations, but snow could be a hindrance to visibility during the afternoon commute on Friday in Illinois.
What does the National Weather Service have to say about this Friday snow possibility?
The National Weather Service in Chicago is now sharing words of warning about snow late Thursday into Friday with this graphic.
Travis does a better job of explaining the snow possibilities for Illinois on Friday than I do (shocking, I know). Watch his breakdown and prepare for the unexpected on Friday - a snowy morning and afternoon in the Land of Lincoln.
