Walmart is Closing 4 More Illinois Stores This Weekend
The retail struggle continues in 2023 as Walmart has announced it's closing even more locations in Illinois as soon as this weekend. Here's the list added to the already announced closings.
You might recall that I shared Walmart's announcement they were closing 7 stores including 2 in Illinois recently. This new list of closures is in addition to those.
Yahoo Finance shared these 4 Illinois Walmart locations that will close after business on Sunday, April 16, 2023:
Supercenter, the Walmart Health center, and the Walmart Academy at 8431 S. Stewart Ave, Chicago, Illinois
Kenwood Neighborhood Market at 4720 S. Cottage Grove Ave. Chicago, Illinois
Lakeview Neighborhood Market at 2844 N. Broadway St., Chicago, Illinois
Little Village Neighborhood Market at 2551 W. Cermak Road, Chicago, Illinois
The Yahoo Finance report says these Illinois Walmart stores "did not meet financial expectations". The closure of these stores is part of an ongoing effort by Walmart to be more efficient with their operations which means underperforming stores are in danger of getting the axe.
The story also infers that more closures could be coming depending on whether stores meet expectations.
