To Whoever Made the Wacky Speed Limits on Broadway in Quincy
I really don't like whiners, so I try not to be one. However, sometimes issues irritate me long enough where I just can't help myself. That has led to this plea with whoever came up with the wacky speed limits on Broadway in Quincy.
First, I want to state that I'm a rule follower when it comes to driving. I'm not recommending that anyone disregard laws, etc. That's one reason why the speed limits on Broadway irk me. More specifically, it's the seemingly constant change of speed limits that aggravate me.
I'll present my case moving from west to east on Broadway. As the journey begins, shortly you'll see this sign.
30 mph? A little slow for my tastes, but fine. 30 mph. Oh, wait. You travel a few blocks further and you'll see this.
Mysteriously, the speed limit is 35 mph. It's like the person who initially came up with 30 mph drove down Broadway and realized that was a little slow, so he/she/it bumped it up. But, wait, there's more...
Well, dang. Now, it's 40 mph. Not confused enough? No? Well, drive a little further...
Now, it's 45 mph. Don't get too comfortable because 65 mph waits just a couple miles down the road and then the madness really begins.
Here's my additional dilemma. I drive west on Broadway every morning and east every night. I have to subtract 5 mph every couple miles in the morning and add 5 mph every couple miles when I drive home at night. I'm not exactly known as a math scholar (Editor's note: or ANY type of scholar) so this constant give and take with the speed limit on Broadway is insane.
Here's a thought. Decide on one of them. I don't care if it's 30 (please don't make it 30), 35, 40 or 45. Pick a speed limit for Broadway and STOP THE MATH MADNESS. Thanks. I feel better now.
