If you saw mentions on social media today of residents in southwestern Missouri feeling an earthquake, they weren't imagining things, but it wasn't a quake.

It's true that there were a rather insignificant earthquake earlier today along the New Madrid Fault in Missouri, but this wasn't that. It was a real event and it was reported by the USGS, but it was not of the earthquake variety.

According to the USGS, a shaking was felt in extreme southwestern Missouri at approximately 12:36pm. Here are the details that have been confirmed by a seismologist.

This was a huge quarry blast right across the border in Missouri at what appears to be Kemp Stone in Fairland, Oklahoma. You know you've moved some rock when it registers as a legit earthquake even though this was a small one.
