Missouri Faces the Worst Heat of the Summer Soon

If you thought the heatwave that Missouri endured the past couple weeks was intimidating, just wait until the next weather pattern returns to the state late this weekend which has caused meteorologists to issue an alert.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri just shared this graphic which reveals the arrival of another dangerous heatwave

The real potential trouble begins late Sunday morning when the temperatures across Missouri will start to rise and they won't relent for several days. The highs on Sunday in Missouri are expected to be around 10 degrees hotter than Saturday and it will only get hotter from there moving towards the middle of next week. The Washington Post called it "the planet's strongest heat dome".

How hot will it get in Missouri next week?

It will obviously depend a lot on exactly where you live in Missouri, but the forecast for the St. Louis area specifically will give you an idea. Look at the temperatures expected in St. Louis by Monday afternoon. The temperature could hit triple digits and that's not even taking into account what the heat index will be.

A couple weeks ago, Missouri endured temperatures in the low 90's with heat indexes in the triple digits. For this incoming system, the temperatures will be even worse and might top 100 degrees before it's all said and done.

This is another one of those instances where it's important to stay in touch with any friends or family that are in vulnerable situations without reliable air conditioning. Cooling systems will be stressed and any failures could be life-threatening.
