Missouri's Heat Warning Just Upgraded to Extreme

All of Missouri was already under a heat advisory starting Sunday continuing into this next week, but authorities have now upgraded that to an extreme heat warning and it would be wise to heed their words.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri just shared this bulletin about an upgrade to the heat advisory

The extreme heat warning as of this writing is effective for Sunday, July 26, 2026 and Monday, July 27, 2026, but it might be extended into Tuesday also depending on what the heat index values are as we start the next week. While temperatures will get close to 100, the heat indexes both days are expected to skyrocket above 110 degrees Fahrenheit in most parts of Missouri.

This is why the Missouri State Emergency Management authorities are advising everyone to avoid or limit outdoor activities to to make sure hydration is a priority no matter how much you're out in the elements.

This will likely be the worst heat of the summer and it looks like it will stick around for a few days. Make sure you take care of yourself and check in on elderly friends and family to make sure they have access to cooling. With heat like this, it truly is a life and death situation.
