Missouri Lake Ranked for Some of the World's Biggest Walleye

If you're looking for some of the largest walleye in the world, you don't need to leave Missouri to find them as one of the state's lakes was just ranked as one of the best places in the world to find these fish.

There's a new ranking of the 10 lakes around the world that have the biggest walleye just shared by World Atlas. On that list is a waterway in Missouri where a man caught a state record 21-pound, 1-ounce walleye in March of 1988. The Missouri Department of Conservation said Gerry Partlow achieved this incredible feat.

He caught this massive walleye at Bull Shoals Lake which is known for being a hotspot for trophy fish. MDOC said that Gerry was walking the banks of the Pothole arm of Bull Shoals Lake around 11pm late at night when this record fish was caught. All Gerry had was a rod and reel with just 10-pound test line and a can of worms. It was around 11:30pm when Partlow managed to get this fish in to the bank.

Gerry's legendary walleye catch is part of the reason why Bull Shoals Lake has landed among the top 10 places for giant walleye in the world and all because he went out on a late night fishing adventure.
