Missouri Has 183 Locations of America’s Best Soft Serve Ice Cream

This is the perfect time of the year to talk about epic soft serve ice cream as the extreme heat beats down on us. There's a new national ranking of the best soft serve ice cream choices and the number one pick has 183 locations in Missouri.

I just came across this new ranking of the best soft serve ice cream in America by Cheapism and the top choice surprised me, but does make sense the more I think about it. They say that at the top of the ice cream list is Sonic Drive-In followed by Burger King, Wendy's, Chick-Fil-A and finally Dairy Queen. I remember the era when Dairy Queen was considered the best ice cream place, especially for soft serve, but they claim that day has passed.

That made me wonder exactly how many Sonic Drive-In places there are in Missouri and their official store locator shows 183 currently if my fingers and toes counting is correct (Editor's Note: doubtful). By comparison, Dairy Queen shows there are somewhere around 103 to 105 of their shops in Missouri.

I'm not going to pick a soft serve ice cream favorite for myself. I do think Sonic does a great job with their ice cream offerings these days, but used to be a Dairy Queen loyalist. I frankly don't think about ice cream when I think about Burger King and don't have a Chick-Fil-A near me. I do fancy myself a Frosty from Wendy's every now and then, though. Let's face it. If I'm being 100% honest (Editor's Note: again doubtful), there is hardly an ice cream that I've met that I didn't love.
