Salvation Army’s ‘Dress an Angel’ Program is April 8
The Quincy Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary is sponsoring its 53rd annual Dress An Angel clothing project on Saturday, April 8. This year, as in the past 52, the women will provide a new Easter/Spring outfit and Bible for over 300 children ages 12 and under in the Quincy area.
Each year, other area churches, community groups, organizations and many individuals donate items and financial support for this program. The Salvation Army wants to continue this wonderful collaboration again this year as they share with families in our community. Because need continues to increase, The Salvation Army requests community support and donations of both new clothing and financial gifts for their program this year.
The public can assist the Women’s Auxiliary by donating newly purchased clothing (children’s sizes - infant to 16/18) or with a financial donation for the purchase of new clothing, Bibles and personal care items. Donations would be appreciated by March 27th.
Clothing and donations of personal care items may be dropped off at the Kroc Center at 405 Vermont Street in Quincy. Checks should be made out to The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and delivered to the Kroc Center or P.O. Box 75, Quincy, Illinois, 62306-0075.
Those wishing to apply for assistance from the program may turn in an application between March 13 and March 30, Monday through Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Salvation Army Family Service Center at 501 Broadway in Quincy.
To apply, proof of residency and guardianship is needed, including photo identification. Parents must bring their child/children on the day of distribution on April 8. Those interested in participating in this year’s Dress An Angel program are encouraged to contact The Salvation Army Family Services office at 217-222-2087.
