The pattern of severe thunderstorm systems crossing Missouri just does not seem to end. The Storm Prediction Center has just upgraded their warning for Monday saying there is now a potent tornado threat for nearly all of Missouri.

A few days ago I shared the advisory from forecasters that supercell development was a possibility for Missouri on Monday. Today, the NOAA Storm Prediction Center escalated their convective outlook for Monday as now most of Missouri is in the enhanced area.

Here are their exact words about what they now expect to happen Monday afternoon:

"Strong to very strong instability will develop across the Plains and into the Ozarks on Monday as temperatures warm into the 80s...a favorable environment for intense supercells will develop...The tornado threat remains potent but more uncertain."

While the potent tornado threat is real, it's important to also emphasize the uncertainty they speak of. What concerns me is that the conditions they were looking at a couple days ago that led to the supercell advisory now look even more favorable to severe storm development.

After the tragic tornadoes that caused deaths in the St. Louis, Missouri area and continuing into several towns in Kentucky, the last thing we need is another wave of potentially devasting storms, but it looks right now that's exactly what we're about to deal with - again.
