Watch Out for Possible Major Snowstorm in Missouri Early February
It's too early to know for sure, but it would be a good idea to watch out for a possible major snow event in Missouri impacting right as February begins.
I always mention this first, because it's very important. Never make or cancel plans based on what a weather computer model shows. Only forecasts from the National Weather Service should be used for that purpose. The purpose of this is to just show you what's possible and not necessarily likely.
I saw Direct Weather on YouTube share model runs for the GFS and the European model showing what COULD happen as early as February 1. I tend to put more weight on outlooks like this when models seem to be in agreement that some type of storm will develop and that's what's happening here. First, here's what the European model shows for Saturday, February 1. Notice Missouri could see rather major snow.
The snow becomes even more prominent on Sunday, February 2 based on the European model run.
It even shows the snow event continuing into Monday, February 3.
For comparison, here's the GFS model run for Saturday, February 1. This model tends to be more reliable for winter storm systems.
I've checked other runs that seem to show that temperature will make all the difference as it could be warm enough to be rain and not snow. Let's hope.
Let's emphasize again that this is still nearly 9 days away as of the date of this writing. This is NOT a forecast, but only a tiny warning to keep your eyes on the start of February in Missouri. The models will become more accurate the closer we get to those days. This is just a heads up that something COULD be brewing.
