Total Lunar Eclipse Will Be Fully Visible Over Missouri Next Week

There's a total lunar eclipse that's happening near the end of August and it should be fully visible over Missouri, but there are a few things you should know first.

Let's start with some facts. There's a total lunar eclipse that will begin the night of August 27 and conclude in the early morning hours of August 28. It will reach totality during a reasonable time the night of the 27th and Missouri is right in the heart of the area where totality should be visible.

Sky and Telescope says the total lunar eclipse will begin around 9pm central time on August 27, 2026. The partial lunar eclipse is expected to begin at 9:33pm with totality happening at 11:13pm. The key to this lunar eclipse being a sky event for those of us in Missouri depends on the weather. If (a great weather word in Missouri) skies are clear, you're in for a treat. Clouds could ruin it if overcast conditions happen.

There won't be another total lunar eclipse until New Year's Eve 2028 and then another in June of 2029. That means this is one sky sight over Missouri you'll want to take in, if you get the opportunity. You won't get another chance for a couple more years.
