NWS in Illinois Offers Cryptic Warning about 2nd Week of June
I keep a pretty close eye on severe weather developments and I have not noticed anything unusual for the next week or two. The National Weather Service office in Chicago, Illinois obviously sees something I don't as they've offered a cryptic warning about the 2nd week of June.
I check what the meteorologists at the National Weather Service office in Chicago, Illinois say often since they're weather geniuses and I'm not. Today, I noticed something odd in a graphic they shared about a "pattern change" that's coming and they specifically target the 2nd week of June as a time period to watch.
What do the forecasters at the National Weather Service in Chicago see that the rest of us don't?
That's a great question that I don't have a great answer for. I checked NOAA's Storm Prediction Center and don't see anything in their convective outlooks that looks dangerous. However, I did see Ryan Hall mention something today that makes me wonder if this is what the NWS in Chicago is looking at. He is seeing computer models pointing toward a moving area of instability on or around June 5 that's headed towards Illinois.
Is that the reason why the National Weather Service is watching early to mid-June? We won't have to wait long to find out.
