According to trucking industry site CDL Life, Stephanie Johnson slipped and fell at one of ExxonMobil's sites in Illinois. The cause was reportedly slippery oil. The injuries that Stephanie Johnson suffered that day eventually developed into Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. The Mayo Clinic says this condition can result in "continuous burning or throbbing pain, sensitivity to touch or cold, muscle spasms, tremors and weakness and decreased ability to move the affected body part". The jury decided that ExxonMobil was completely responsible and the award was due to the severity of Stephanie Johnson's injuries.

The report concludes that ExxonMobil will appeal the decision handed down by the jury saying that "we will pursue all appellate relief available". There's no estimate on how long the court battles will continue before this trucker injury case in Illinois reaches a resolution.
