Talk about a sticky situation. Illinois State Police had to shut down an interstate this week because of a crash that resulted in 46,000 pounds of applesauce flooding the roadway.

Rick's Towing Inc shared pictures and video of what they encountered when they were called in for a cleanup on I-57

I first saw this reported by CDL Life about a semi-tractor trailer overturning on I-57 in Illinois early in the morning on October 6, 2025 at around 4:38am. What they found was a deluge of applesauce...everywhere. Fortunately, no one was reportedly injured in the crash.

A few hours later, they shared a follow-up video revealing that the applesauce spill on I-57 wasn't done yet because it's practically impossible to pick up applesauce with loaders.

All's well that ends well and the fact that the semi-tractor trailer driver and other drivers nearby weren't injured is good news. I now have to wonder if this stretch of I-57 will start attracting more deer since they are infamous for loving apples. Hey, it's a valid question.
