Kansas City Gangs: See Their Hoods and Why They Should Be Feared

I tend to be very naive. I'm been in and through Kansas City, Missouri so many times in my life, but never realized the gang presence that I was accidentally so very close to. A map shows what gangs are in this western Missouri metro and why they should be feared.

The presence of gangs in Kansas City is so prevalent that Kulture Vulturez calls it "Killa City". Who are they and where are they? There are many members of Crips and Bloods and the Hilltop Gang. There are multiple maps that show the neighborhoods where they exist. I can't tell you how many times my family visited friends in Kansas City and were only blocks away from some of these dangerous places.

The Kulture Vulturez site has a similar map, but shows different areas on the extreme east and west sides of Kansas City.

There could be a new more dangerous element to the gang situation in Kansas City as a couple years ago, the Kansas City Star reported that two MS-13 gang members faced murder charges in the city. The FBI warns that MS-13 is a very dangerous new element:

The gang is well-organized and is heavily involved in lucrative illegal enterprises, being notorious for its use of violence to achieve its objectives.

A conversation on Reddit says there are many groups you rarely see talked about in the media like the Sharks and Jets and that gang violence in Kansas City is "very real".

The Kansas City Police Department has resources for parents to help them identify when their child may be involved with gangs involving colors, symbols and other lifestyle signs.
