It appears that an annual St. Louis, Missouri area festival is on hold for this year and, as a result, 91 have been laid off, but there might be some good news to come.

I saw this new WARN notice on the Missouri Jobs Site showing that the International Institute in St. Louis, Missouri had just laid off 91 workers effective February 1, 2025. It appears there's more backstory as to what is happening leading to this layoff as KSDK in St. Louis is reporting that the Festival of Nations in St. Louis has been put on "pause" with this year's celebration now on hold.

So when does the good news part of this paused festival and layoffs begin?

I'm not sure "good news" is what this is, but at least it's a ray of hope for those who were just laid off as the Missouri Jobs Site says "Layoff is temporary, but return-to-work date has not been announced".

St. Louis Public Radio says the Festival of Nations in August is NOT canceled. They've paused their preparations for the celebration, but it's still possible that it will happen at the end of summer.

They also emphasized that the International Institute in St. Louis is still in operation, but with scaled-back resources. I know many families in the St. Louis area rely on help from this organization, so here's hoping that they can find a positive way forward with their festival and the work they do in the community.
