See Where Surveillance Cameras Are Located Across Missouri

You are being watched. Right now. No matter where you are. That's a fact that many people don't realize, but a new interactive map shows how prevalent surveillance cameras are across the state of Missouri.

I don't tend to be a paranoid person (I don't think) and I'm also a certified computer technician when I'm not busy getting into trouble on the radio. I also live my life in broad daylight and try to do things I'm not ashamed of. However, I do believe that the public deserves privacy or at least the right to know when they're in the public eye. That's why I am paying close attention to the spread of what are known as "flock cameras".

What are "flock cameras"?

The simple answer is they are automated license plate readers and/or traffic cameras that law enforcement use to monitor and sometimes locate vehicles they are pursuing. There are literally thousands of these located across Missouri as the website DeFlock reveals. It's an open-source map with locations provided by the public showing the location of where surveillance is happening.

I'm conflicted about how to feel about all of these cameras across the state. On one hand, I want law enforcement to have all the tools they need to keep the peace, but what if this technology ends up in the hands of an evil entity and/or government? I'm not concerned about most police departments having these eyes in the sky, but it would be bad news if America were ever taken over by a tyrant.
