Very little has been said about it but the United States Postal Service raised the price of a first class stamp beginning last Sunday to 50 cents.  The one cent increase became effective January 21 with little publicity for all letters weighing 1 ounce or less. Each additional ounce above 1 once will cost 21 cents. Any “forever” stamps that were previously purchased will be honored with no additional stamps or cost needed.

Other domestic mailings including Discounted Metered Mail, First Class Mail Flats, Postcards, Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, First Class Package Service, Parcel Select Ground and Media Mail have also seen increases.

International shipping of Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail International, First Class Package International Service and Commercial Base will also see price increases.
