If you happened to have clear skies above you and looked up at just the right time late Friday night, you were treated to an unexpected dazzling dance of colors as the Northern Lights were visible over parts of Missouri.

Space Weather says that a crack appeared in the atmosphere late Friday night, March 21 which allowed the Aurora Borealis to be seen as far south as Oklahoma after the Earth was impacted by a solar storm.

One of the best Missouri YouTubers, Dan Bush of Missouri Skies, captured the Northern Lights from his location near Albany, Missouri.

If you missed the Northern Lights Friday, you may get another chance in Missouri this weekend

NOAA's Aurora Borealis Experimental Dashboard shows that the Northern Lights might be visible over Missouri again late Saturday night as the northern part of the state are right on the line where it could be visible on the horizon.

Friday night's Northern Lights display over Missouri was unexpected, so keep your eyes on the skies Saturday night. The only downside is much of Missouri is expected to be under storm clouds as even hail is possible. But, if the skies clear soon enough, you might be in for a sky treat. Maybe.
