This Missouri Man May Have Just Shot Himself a World Record Fish
Have you ever been fishing with a bow? It's quite a different experience from a rod and reel to say the least. One Missouri man used his bow and may have just shot himself not only a state record, but maybe even a world record fish.

The Missouri Department of Conservation shared the news of this big catch/shoot in a press release saying that Mitchell Dering of Fairdealing may have just landed his 3rd record fish. They say he was fishing/shooting at Duck Creek Ditch in the middle of March when he landed a 4 pound brown bullhead. To give you an idea how large this bullhead is, the previous record was a 2.7 pounder way back in 1994. That's a true whopper.
Mitchell Dering must be quite the fisherman as the Missouri Department of Conservation says "he briefly held the state record for spotted gar back in 2019". Nice.
What about that possible world record?
The current world record for a brown bullhead fish being nabbed by bowfishing is 3 pounds 4 ounces. Once verified further, Mitchell's 4 pounder will easily set the world record mark. Not many can say they are a world record holding fisherman, but it sure looks like Mitchell Dering will be able to soon.
Other than bowfishing, what other types of fishing are there where records are kept? The Missouri Department of Conservation lists "trotline, throwline, limb line, bank line, jug line, gig, bow, crossbow, underwater spearfishing, snagging, snaring, grabbing, or atlatl".
