Invasive carp are a problem in virtually every Missouri river. There's one waterway in Missouri though that now has a lot less of these nasty fish as the state announced they have annihilated 38,000 pounds of them.

In a press release, the Missouri Department of Conservation said that 38,000 pounds of invasive carp were no longer a part of the Grand River. They used the word "removed". I prefer "annihilate". That's because I was viciously finned by a carp when I was younger and continue to hold a grudge.

How did the state of Missouri rid itself of so many invasive carp?

The press release said they did "electrofishing" during September. Please tell me that means each of these evil carp was strapped to an electric chair. This is just one of the ways that invasive carp are being battled by officials as there was also a fishing tournament not that long ago designed to de-carp rivers.

The Missouri Department of Conservation's stated goal for their "electrofishing" was to get rid of 30 to 40 percent of the invasive carp in the Grand River. They're still trying to determine if that was accomplished. All I know is that even one of these carp remaining in Missouri rivers is one too many. The sooner they are gone out of our waterways, the better (says the grown-up kid who was injured by this stupid fish).
