Mysterious “Star” Streaks Across Sky, St. Louis Witness Says
When is a star not really a star? That's the question from an eyewitness in St. Louis, Missouri who saw what they thought was a star before it zoomed across the night sky in less than a second.
According to the National UFO Reporting Center, this event happened on April 3, 2026
The eyewitness report from someone in the St. Louis, Missouri area says they saw what the thought was a star that was "brighter than Venus" suddenly accelerate and cross the sky above them.
"I was facing eastward towards the moon which was behind the clouds. I suddenly saw a bright star appear in the clouds it was like maybe 30° up from the horizon. I noticed it there for moment before it instantaneously sped off. I watched it cross (by my guess) over mile of cloudy sky in a little over a second."
They added that the object made no sound and added a white glow to the clouds as it passed them. This eyewitness also said they were not alone. At least two others who were with them confirmed they saw the strange object. I've seen my share of shooting stars over Missouri, but none of them were stationary first. Any sky object over St. Louis has the potential to be a plane thanks to the airport there, but there are no conventional craft that I'm aware of that can move that fast across the sky. By definition, this person in St. Louis saw a UFO as the National UFO Reporting Center has not been able to come up with a natural explanation yet.
