Senior games and pranks are not unique, but there is a new one that is dangerous and Illinois police are warning that it is a recipe for disaster.

The Quincy, Illinois Police Department just shared this warning today about a game called Senior Assassin that many high school seniors are participating in.

The gist of the game is that seniors are targeting other seniors with water guns in the hopes of being the last one in the game that hasn't been hit. The hope of the police is that students will avoid the game. The problem is that many water guns look like real guns which is why they advise the following if a student decides to participate:

  • Do not trespass onto or into other people's property while playing (especially at night). If you're asked to leave, do so.
  • Use water pistols that are brightly colored and are clearly toys. Hiding in dark places and carrying anything that can be mistaken for a firearm is a recipe for disaster. The same goes for wearing masks, camouflage, etc.
  • If you see the police coming, Don't run or hide. Just explain to the Officers what you are doing and cooperate if they ask you to stop.

When I was a senior, there was a challenge to climb our town's water tower and paint our graduating class year on it. That wasn't wise either, but this new assassin's game could have terrible consequences in this era and one misunderstanding could become tragic.
