IndyCar Transport Truck Catches Fire in Illinois
If you've never been to an IndyCar race, they're exciting. As it turns out, even hauling IndyCars is a dramatic event as a transport truck just caught fire on an Illinois interstate over the weekend.
I saw this stunning update from the Colona Fire Department on their Facebook/Meta page yesterday. If you're not familiar, Colona, Illinois is a part of the Quad Cities region. They got called out to a fire on the interstate around mile marker 17 involving a hauler of IndyCars\.
In case the text from the share is a little small on your device, I'll summarize. They were called about a freight hauler fire on the interstate and arrived in just 8 minutes. They learned upon arrival that the truck that was on fire involved IndyCars so hazmat suits were deployed as a precaution. Fire suppression efforts took 2 1/2 hours with a big ventilation effort to cool down the rig that wrapped up around 8:30pm Sunday evening. The good news is no drivers, crew, law enforcement or fire fighters were injured in the blaze. Automatic Aid from Coal Valley and the Illinois State Police were involved in this incident. Fast action by all the departments involved kept this fire from becoming a more serious problem so these fast cars can continue to the next race which is in Monterey, California this coming weekend.
