The seemingly constant impact of storms on Missouri the past few weeks has been exhausting and it's not over yet. Computer models are showing yet another line of what could mean straight line winds and perhaps even storms packing derechos for parts of Missouri in days.

I knew something was up when I saw NOAA's Storm Prediction Center issue an advisory for Friday, June 6. If you look at the yellow slight risk area, you'll see the bottom third of Missouri is a part of it.

What does the Storm Prediction Center say about the chances of storms and straight line winds in the Missouri Ozarks?

They added this warning:

"This will mostly support multicell storms capable of damaging wind gusts...where enhanced mid-level flow will likely be present, more organized storms are possible with a locally greater severe weather threat."

Internet weather personality/expert Ryan Hall noted that the predicted wind speeds will be favorable to damaging straight line events like derechos.

He sees the potential for up to 3 waves of straight line wind events including as far as out Monday, June 9.

Reed Timmer shared this graphic today about what's possible this weekend.

There are some weather outlets that see derecho danger for most of Missouri not just over the next few days, but a pattern developing throughout June and July.

Please don't misunderstand. This is NOT a forecast for derechos per se. This is just a heads up to be aware that storms with damaging winds are possible especially for the southern half of Missouri Friday. If the severity rises to the level of derechos and/or severe thunderstorms, the National Weather Service will issue alerts. It's another day that Missouri will need to be weather aware - again.
