Missouri Families Could Get $600 Per Person in Rebates
There's a new proposal just put forth today by a senator in Missouri that could mean a $600 rebate per person that would equal up to $2,400 for a family of 4.
I need to be clear that I don't care what political party you support. I am not an advocate for either, but I am a cheerleader for families. While I'm no economic expert, I do know that many Missouri families are hurting right now and need to know about a report by The Hill of a proposal that Missouri senator Josh Hawley has officially submitted for consideration. Here are the facts that we know so far:
- A $600 tariff rebate would be sent to families for each member of the household
- The rebate would include adults and children
- A family of 4 would receive a rebate of $2,400
- Payments reduced for families with income of $150,000 or more, a head of household who earns $112,500 or more and individuals who make $75,000 or more
- Direct payments would be sent electronically as they were during the 2020 CARES Act
When would these rebate payments be sent out if approved?
That is unclear at this time. The report says the payments would be from the estimated $30 billion in tariff revenue and could be more next year which could result in higher payments if approved.
Time will tell if this proposal receives bipartisan support. I know a lot of families would could badly use some assistance of some kind. Whether this is a good idea or not is up for individuals to make up their own minds about.
