Missouri Sees Same Odd Nuke-Sniffer Flight Happen Twice
Something curious has happened over Missouri over the past couple of days. A US military nuke-sniffing plane flew a curious path over Missouri - twice.
A WC-135 Constant Phoenix plane code-named "COBRA31" was spotted flying a route over Missouri twice this week
As a Tom Clancy fan, I keep close tabs on the "doomsday planes" that the US military utilizes to provide our country airborne command-and-control in the event of a catastrophe and/or surprise enemy attack. The WC-135 is a plane that Wikipedia says is designed "to collect samples from the atmosphere for the purpose of detecting and identifying nuclear explosions". I saw one of the WC-135 Constant Phoenix planes fly over Missouri on Monday, August 11 as captured by Flight Radar 24.
It flew a strange path from Offutt Air Force Base in southeastern Nebraska over northwestern Missouri near Maryville and not far from St. Joseph.
But wait, there's more...
Today, NY Prepper on YouTube noticed that this same plane flew a path directly over St. Louis continuing all the way across Missouri again. Coincidence? Let's hope so. The timing is unusual, however, with the President meeting with Putin on Friday, August 15, 2025.
Here's why that's not a crisis
The location of Offutt Air Force Base means Missouri sees more than its fair share of "doomsday planes" since any path from the southeast takes these planes over Missouri when returning to their home base. With the B2 Stealth Bomber fleet making their home at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri is one of the most active states in the country for this type of military activity.
