According to the travel experts at Trip Savvy, Hannibal, Missouri was named as one of the best day trips to take from St. Louis, and we couldn't agree more! Hannibal was listed 3rd behind only Springfield, IL (hard to compete with Abe Lincoln), and Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park (which looks amazing, I need to take a trip there). What do they have to say about Hannibal being 3rd on the list? On Trip Savvy, they say...

"...Hannibal has embraced its place in American history as the childhood home of the famous writer, Mark Twain. You can visit Twain's boyhood home, see Tom Sawyer's fence and experience the Mighty Mississippi aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat. Aside from Twain, Hannibal is a charming small town. The Hannibal Trolley offers sightseeing tours of the area's scenic overlooks, famous landmarks and beautiful historic homes..."

Some of the other day trip places that made the list include St. Charles, Meramec Caverns, Hermann, and Columbia, to name a few. To read more about why you should take a day trip to Hannibal, and to see the complete list of day trip ideas, click here!

I love Hannibal, and I think it is very deserving of being this high on the list! When you make your day trip to Hannibal you need to ride the riverboat, shop downtown, and grab a bit to eat at Ole Wolfound, or if you can, come to Hannibal when there is a festival going on like Twain on Main!
