When I was a kid, I remember seeing Long John Silver restaurants everywhere. Now, not nearly as much. That sparked my curiosity about how many still remain open in Missouri. I was surprised that the number appears to be dwindling.

I'm not saying that I used to go to the Long John Silvers in Hannibal, Missouri a lot, but I was on a first name basis with all of the workers. The fact that it's right across the street from Hannibal High School didn't help me either. No, I'm not sorry. I could survive on the crumbs at the bottom of all the fish and chicken meals for years, but that's a story for a different day.

How many Long John Silver restaurants remain open in Missouri?

I went straight to the source which is the official Long John Silvers website and it only lists 22 locations still open in Missouri. Now 22 isn't insignificant, but compare that to other fast food chains and it's tiny. By comparison, 24/7 Wall St estimates there are over 300 McDonalds in Missouri.

As I've shifted my food habits severely toward a healthier routine, I haven't been to Long John Silvers in a couple years probably. I do miss it and hate to see it appearing less around the state as a fast "get my chicken and/or my fish" option.
