Here’s how to get your art on a local billboard
Local art of all forms and in all its beauty will grace both printed and digital billboards in Hannibal and Quincy. Now is the time to submit your work, and for the first time, the entry is free to local artists.
The Hannibal Arts Council will waive the typical fee for the 7th annual Art On the Open Billboard competition. The group has also extended the deadline until Jan. 31. The contest is open to artists who live in a 50-mile radius of Hannibal. There is a youth category for ages 8-17 in addition to the adult category. Click here for rules and to submit an entry.
You don’t have to be a master photographer or a DaVinci with a paintbrush to have your art on a billboard. Because there are digital options, even performance artists like dancers or actors can submit an entry. Artisans, craftsmen, and writers can compete too. If it has to do with art in any form, this contest is for you.
The goal of the project is to promote the arts in the Hannibal area and capture the creative spirit all art forms represented in Northeast Missouri and Western Illinois. The top winners in the adult and youth divisions will have their images featured on a series of billboards and on digital billboards in Hannibal and Quincy. The contest is being coordinated by the Hannibal Arts Council in partnership with Lamar Outdoor Advertising and Independent’s Service Company.
