Five local athletes from Gem City Gymnastics and Tumbling will attend and compete in the Amateur Athletic Union’s (A.A.U.) Junior Olympic Games July 29 through August 2 in Virginia  Beach, Virginia.

Each of these athletes qualified during the A.A.U. Illinois State Meet hosted by Gem City Gymnastics and Tumbling in Quincy in May. The athletes will be competing in a national competition for themselves (individual), their gym (gym scores) and their state. Illinois traditionally has the most athletes competing out of all 50 states.  Those attending (their ages and hometowns) are:

Maurice Silas 14, Quincy

Lanie Privett 10, Hannibal

John Bohnenblust 13, Quincy

Logan Covert 12, Canton
