Missouri Town Sadly 1 of America’s Most Likely Places to Be Raped

I tend to be naïve and I really would prefer to stay that way. However, the truth must be faced and there's one Missouri town that has sadly become known a one of the most likely places to be raped in America.

I was shocked to see this startling crime statistic from a website called Statistica. It's a breakdown of the highest rape rates in America for the past few years. Top 5 in America is none other than St. Joseph, Missouri.

Think about that number for a second. Considering the fact that there are approximately 70,000 residents in St. Joseph, Missouri, that means well over 114 women can expect to be a victim of this awful crime for every 100,000 people that live there. Tragic.

If you do a Google search for rape cases in St. Joseph, Missouri (my advice is don't), you'll see a staggering number of results.

It gets worse. The City Data website shows a map of sex offenders in St. Joseph, Missouri and the map is absolutely blanketed with them.

What in the world is happening in little St. Joseph, Missouri anyway? I've only driven through that part of the state a handful of times, but don't really understand why this terrible violent crime against women has become such a problem there.

One final thought on this awful subject is that many experts estimate that only around 300 sexual assaults out of the 1,000 that really happen are even reported to police. That means a tragedy that many live with every day is even worse than the statistics show and they are already shameful.
