Whoever is responsible for this should be caught, locked up and made to replace every tire they tear up. The Illinois State Police warn that someone is purposely dropping huge roofing nails on Illinois interstates.

The Public Information Office of the Illinois State Police issued a bulletin today about a roadway hazard that shouldn't be there. Here's what they found in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 5, 2025:

"ISP Troop 2 troopers located a large amount of roofing nails scattered in the emergency crossovers on Interstate 80 between Geneseo and Atkinson. After the initial discovery, troopers began checking subsequent crossovers and located nails scattered throughout many of them."

The Illinois State Police know this was no accident of nails falling off of a passing construction vehicle because some of the nails were contained inside of Easter eggs. This was obviously a purposeful act.

The Illinois State Police need your help in locating whoever has committed this crime. They ask if you have any information or witnessed anything unusual on a highway in Illinois to place contact Special Agent Nicholas Rubino at 309-752-4915 ext. 4931.

This is no fun prank and could result in serious injuries from any accidents this Easter egg nail plot causes.
