75 Now Sick as Missouri Quarter Pounder E. Coli Cases Rising
The E.coli contamination cases connected to Quarter pounders continues to worse as there are now 75 who are reportedly sick as Missouri sicknesses are on the rise.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, there is a new surge in E.coli cases that are associated with Quarter Pounders from McDonalds. The initial report a few days ago showed 49 ill, but now there are 75 with an updated map from the CDC showing there are now 4 illnesses in Missouri.
According to Reuters, McDonalds says the E.coli outbreak is the fault of their onions supplier which now has other fast food chains reportedly pulling items that also contain those same onions. While there are no other chains that are speaking publicly at this time about removing menu items, it's entirely possible this recall could expand as that supplier is investigated.
The CDC says that along with the Missouri sicknesses, there have been multiple hospitalizations and even 1 death as a result of this E. coli outbreak.
How can you tell if you have E. coli infection?
The CDC says that victims often experience "severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), and vomiting". It's most dangerous for the very young, very old and/or those with weakened immune systems.
