Northern Lights May Be Visible from Missouri Tonight
If you're a fan of pretty lights, you might want to keep an eye on the skies over Missouri Monday night as there's a chance the Northern Lights will be visible over at least parts of the state.
I tend to be skeptical when I hear that the Northern Lights will be visible from Missouri since that's not a common occurrence. However, I just checked the official NOAA Aurora Dashboard and they do have the northern quarter of Missouri under the area where it will be likely to see the Northern Lights over the horizon.
Even a photographer in Oklahoma is convinced that the Northern Lights will be as far south as them tonight.
Here's something important to understand. The red line over Missouri means that area may possibly be able to see the Northern Lights on the horizon. There's a big difference between the red and green shaded areas where the Northern Lights are expected to be seen overhead. Something else that's important is the fact that it is so darn cold. That combined with hopefully what will be little cloud cover MIGHT mean the Northern Lights will be visible for Missouri. That's "might" with a capital M. I'm always hesitant to share possibilities like this since so many things have to go right for it to happen and I hate disappointing people (like my guidance counselor when he found out I was going to enter radio as a career). Just know that it would be a good idea to pay attention to the northern horizon in Missouri Monday night. It might get pretty.
