Food is a very subjective thing. What is delicious to one might be atrocious to another. That's why I'm very skeptical of "best of" food lists. However, the Missouri food joint just named the state's most historic truly deserves it. It's a Route 66 legend and more.

If you're going to compile a most historic food joint list for every state in America like Love Food has just done, you better get it right. I don't know about the other states, but they nailed it for Missouri and I don't know even one person who would disagree with their conclusion.

What is the most historic food joint in Missouri?

Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard in St. Louis, Missouri. Duh.

As the official Ted Drewe's website will tell you, this brand's history has spanned 95 years and involves not just frozen custard, but Christmas trees, too. Ted opened his first stand on or about 1929 and never stopped. They now have 3 different St. Louis area locations where you can grab one of their frozen treats as long as the weather is reasonably warm.

Sadly, we lost Ted Drewe late last year, but his legacy will live on.

I can't think of a more Missouri and specifically St. Louis food treat that can rival Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard. Not even the famous St. Louis toasted ravioli can touch the 95 years of goodwill that Ted brought to the St. Louis area and Missouri as a whole.
