If someone knocks on your door, it's best to look and see who it is before you open. That was especially true for a Jefferson County, Missouri woman who shared video of a black bear who was lurking right outside of her back door.

KMOV out of St. Louis shared this video from a viewer named Bryana McGill. It shows a close encounter of the black bear kind. This happened at her home in House Springs, Missouri which is just south of St. Louis.

Based on the time stamp on the YouTube share, it appears this apex predator showed up at Bryana's back window a few months ago, but this is the first time the video has happened on my radar.

According to the video report, the Missouri Department of Conservation said this video is more proof that black bears are on the move across the state of Missouri. We've been told by them that the native black bear population was increasing, but it's not often and expected to have a black bear like this outside of your home.

It's worth noting that a young bear like this likely has his mother around nearby somewhere. The only thing more dangerous than getting close to a bear is getting near a baby with a mother who views you as a threat. Fortunately for this bear, he went back into the nearby woods with no bears or humans harmed and a happy ending with a neat video of the experience to share.
