Missouri Suburb Just Named One of the 10 Best in America

I'm having to muzzle my snarky tendencies so that I can genuinely share some good news and a nice national shout out for one Missouri suburb that was recently named one of the 10 best in America by a major website.

This new ranking is by Travel + Leisure where they named the 10 best US suburbs to live in for 2024. Coming in at #7 is a familiar Missouri place for those in the St. Louis area.

Congratulations to Brentwood, Missouri, one of the best suburbs to live in across America (allegedly). They compliment Brentwood for "great schools, fantastic playgrounds, and tranquil neighborhoods" and go on to mention "affordable housing". The fact that it's near tons of things to do in the St. Louis area is an obvious plus.

OK, so I won't be able to completely shut up my cynical self. When you look at Neighborhood Scout, you'll see that Brentwood isn't without crime problems which is something you can say about pretty much all of the St. Louis area. I just find it funny/odd/sad that the national media sometimes paints this part of Missouri as a "murder capital" and other times they look the other way and praise all the fun, family things you can do.

For the record, I think Brentwood is one of the nicer parts of St. Louis and believe this shout out is well-deserved. Frankly, I wish the St. Louis area got more mentions like this instead of all the "danger" headlines that are so prevalent.
