Hopefully by now you're aware of the potential for a lot of rain to fall in Missouri over the next few days. What you may not be aware of is the fact that much of Missouri is now suddenly in an escalated risk of tornadoes beginning Monday night.

This is not just my usual paranoia kicking in. This elevated tornado risk comes directly from the National Weather Service in St. Louis, Missouri. They just shared a graphic showing the fact that the NOAA Storm Prediction Center now has most of Missouri either in the slight risk (yellow) or marginal risk (orange) for tornadoes Monday night as storm systems move across the state.

They're not alone in their belief that tornadoes are a possibility for nearly all of Missouri Monday. Tornado Alley Weather Center on Facebook shared another model which rates the likelihood of tornadoes within a certain distance of your home.

Let's be clear that the main weather element Missouri will be dealing with nearly all of Monday and Tuesday is rain. But, hail and tornadoes are definitely a potential threat specifically for Monday night.

This is another example of a day where you need to just be weather aware paying attention to any real weather warnings that get issued as storms move through Missouri.
