Chaser Gets Too Close to Missouri Twister – Car Window Explodes
This is a great example of being careful what you wish for. A storm chaser caught the tornado he was chasing in southern Missouri, but ended up too close and had his car window explode in on him.
This new video share comes from Storm Chaser Scott Peake who was after a storm near Blodgett, Missouri which is located way south of even Cape Girardeau. The storm had produced a violent tornado that was part of an outbreak which included numerous twisters in Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky.
As Scott approached the tornado, it was crossing the road in front of him - right in front of him.
Scott's backward-facing camera showed what happened next. His side window exploded in on him. Fortunately, he was facing the other way when it happened.
Scott eventually captured some of the most remarkable video of the Missouri tornado outbreak Friday and I highly recommend watching his chase. He's obviously a very experienced chaser who knows what he's doing. Don't even think about doing this yourself unless you're a pro.
I don't speak for him, but I'm guessing Scott would also say that this is a teachable moment for anyone who thinks they have what it takes to chase storms like this. You need to get training and make sure you don't get too close to the show. Otherwise, you could end up getting injured by debris or worse. Your life depends on making smart decisions.
