Many consider Missouri one of the most patriotic states in America and for good reason. Few places have as much rich United States history than the Show Me State. Still, within the state, there are locations that rank among the most patriotic of them all where veterans are celebrated and the nation is honored.

What makes a Missouri place patriotic?

There's no exact science to patriotism, but safe to say communities and places that take care of and celebrate our nation's military soldiers and veterans would be high on the list. Missouri is fortunate to have many active military areas and dozens of communities that are full of those who have served the nation well. Here are the top 10 and the reasons why they're included on this list.

My dad was a World War II veteran who served as a military police officer in Japan at the end of the war. My uncle was a Colonel in the Missouri National Guard who ran for the state house more than 40 years ago. I was raised to honor those who serve currently and those who have defended America in the past along with remembering those who paid the ultimate price to keep us free. I am just one of many in Missouri that can say that.
