Two horses in Missouri learned the hard way that you don't walk on a frozen pond as rescuers had to rush to save them from a frigid fate.

This good news was shared by the Cuba Fire Protection District on their social media pages this week. It involved two horses who became too adventurous for their own good and ended up in a terrible predicament.

In case their Facebook post isn't showing up on your device, here's what they said about the cold horses:

"This morning Cuba Fire was requested to assist with getting 2 horses out of a pond after they had walked out on the snow covered ice. Personnel were able to break a path and lead the horses out of the water. The horses were checked by a local veterinarian and found the horses to be in good condition. Great job by fire personnel in cold conditions and a huge thanks to Veterinarian KC Swope for responding and providing assistance. The horses were taken to a dry barn and were doing well."

If you think it's hard to rescue humans out of a frozen lake or pond, horses are an even greater challenge. The rescuers not only had to stabilize the horses, but also clear a path to the bank out of the water. Well done by all of the rescuers involved as these horses can go back to doing horse things not in frozen water from now on hopefully.
