I had a little "OH &#$%!" moment yesterday when a coworker reminded me of Bridge the Gap this weekend. Not because I had promised to run it or anything. But right around the time the run starts, I have to be in Palmyra. Which means the bridge is closed, and I thought I'd have to go the long way around to get where I need to be. My worries were squashed once I confirmed that, no the bridge is NOT 100% closed, there's still a lane open. But just to get you ready for the road closures on Saturday, read on.

Both the Quincy Memorial and Bayview bridges will go down to one lane. Broadway will be reduced to one lane westbound starting at 6th Street, with the last open turnoff at 4th, otherwise you'll have to cross into Missouri and then turn back. This is good for me, to head into Palmyra.

If you're on US 24/3rd St headed south, you will also have to cross the Bayview bridge, then loop back into Illinois via the Memorial bridge. You won't be able to turn left turn onto Broadway. 3rd St will be closed from Broadway to Maine from 6:00am - 10:30am.

Other closures of note:

  • Front St. from Broadway to Jersey
  • 2nd St. from Maine north into the park
  • Broadway from Bonansinga Dr. to 3rd St.
  • Vermont Ave. from Front St. to 4th St.
  • Hampshire St. from Front St. to 5th St.
  • Bonansinga Dr. from Broadway north to Weems Camp

In addition, access to the parks along the riverfront will be limited until after the race is completed.
