Tragedy struck a Missouri neighborhood Wednesday night when a home exploded injuring two individuals and taking the life of a 5-year-old boy. Video shows what little remains of the home.

According to reports by KMBC 9 in Kansas City, the home explosion happened in Lexington, Missouri at approximately 7:45pm. Authorities believe that a worker who was working on a fiber optic line earlier in the day accidentally hit a gas line. Later, a man inside the home reportedly lit a cigarette unaware that gas was leaking into the home.

The father reportedly suffered severe burns and his daughter was also injured in the blast. Both are now hospitalized in the Kansas City area. The father suffered critical injuries while his daughter is in critical, but stable condition. The 5-year-old boy killed when the Missouri home exploded was the man's son.

There will be further investigations into exactly what happened, but that's all that is known as of now.
