Many Missourians Believe Chemicals Are Being Sprayed Overhead
It doesn't seem to matter what mystery I explore among the odd things that happen in Missouri as the theory that someone is spraying something harmful overhead almost always is mentioned. Why do many Missourians still believe that chemicals are being sprayed overhead by nefarious groups? I think I may have found the reason why.
A few days ago, I shared an article about how many are noticing there are more dead trees than usual in Missouri this year. Here are just a couple of the comments I received on our social media pages:

I could share 50 to 100 comments that I've received over the past few weeks from people in Missouri that really do believe that chemicals are being sprayed over our heads. My question to them and to anyone that says this is show me the proof. I'm completely open to the possibility, plus there is some proven history that the government has done things like this in the past. However, I want proof that it's happening now.
What is the difference between normal plane contrails and the idea of chemtrails?
A normal plane contrail will dissipate quickly, but that's not always the case. There are factors such as temperature, humidity, and wind conditions that can cause contrails to hang in the air for hours which is what makes many suspicious. They believe that contrails always disappear quickly so when they don't, suspicions happen.
But what about the weird crisscross patterns many see over Missouri?

Planes fly established flight "corridors". When their contrails hit the atmosphere under certain conditions, they linger (again based on temperature, humidity, and wind conditions) and you get the waffle-like streaks in the sky.
Those that believe the government would spray chemicals over citizens have some history on their side, though
The National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine document the truth that the United States government really did secretly spray chemicals over many cities in the 1950's and 1960's. Here are their exact words:
"The U.S. Army released the chemical compound zinc cadmium sulfide from airplanes, rooftops, and moving vehicles in 33 urban and rural areas as part of a Cold War program to test the way biological weapons might disperse under different conditions."
The proof is in a report from the National Research Council that you can read yourselves. They claim the levels released weren't harmful, but that's debatable. No matter if that's accurate or not, it proves that the government has in the past released chemicals over cities without divulging it. It's facts like this that the chemtrail believers remember and it no doubt factors into their belief that something insidious is happening overhead now.
My final point is that to believe this is still happening today, I need to see proof. I was born and raised in Missouri and they don't call it the Show Me State for nothing. I'm open to the possibility that the government or some other organization is up to something, but I need more proof that what could be just normal contrails in the sky. The truth is out there (or should I say "up there"?).
